Two of the most common searches about this mod are “The Broken Script mod Fabric” and “The Broken Script mod MCPE”. Both deserve a straight answer instead of a download button.
The short answer
The Broken Script Mod is a Forge mod for Minecraft: Java Edition 1.20.1. Every build in the community archive is a Forge 1.20.1 build. We have found no Fabric release and no Bedrock or MCPE release of the mod itself.
Why Fabric is a no
Forge and Fabric are separate mod loaders with different APIs. A mod has to be written, or ported, for each one. Dropping a Forge jar into a Fabric profile does not work: Fabric simply ignores it or reports that it cannot load it.
What about compatibility layers?
Projects exist that try to run Forge mods on Fabric, but large, complex mods rarely behave correctly through them. For a mod that relies on events, structures and custom rendering, that is a recipe for crashes. If you want this mod, use Forge.
Why MCPE is a no
“MCPE” is the old name for the mobile game, now part of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Bedrock is written in a different language from Java Edition and cannot load Java mods of any kind. Bedrock has add-ons, and some carry similar names or themes, but they are independent works rather than versions of this mod.
Be wary of APK files or sites claiming to offer “The Broken Script for MCPE”. Installing apps from unknown sources is a common way to pick up unwanted software.
What you can do instead
- On a computer: install Java Edition with Forge 1.20.1 and follow our Forge installation guide.
- On Fabric: keep a separate Forge 1.20.1 instance just for this mod; most launchers make this easy.
- On phone or console: look for Bedrock horror add-ons by their own authors and judge them on their own merits.
Our compatibility table keeps these answers in one place.
